 Kindergarteners will concentrate on specific characteristics such as gender, skin color, eye color, language.
 Older children will portray themselves as having personal preferences or personality traits.

Overly concerned about conforming to peer-imposed rules, competitive, antagonistic to the opposite gender, pronounced gender differences in interests, same-gender cliques formed, spend a lot of energy in physical game playing.
