Answer to Question 1

She lived with her biological parents for two years, then was in a foster home. After being adopted, she still visited her biological grandmother, but the visits would be followed by periods during which her parents described her as being funny or ignoring them. She decided she wanted to help other children because of her own struggles.

Answer to Question 2

When giving directions, state them clearly and without ambiguity; be willing to listen when children want to talk; do not talk down to children, but use language that is appropriate for their level of understanding.
