ANSWER: The multitude of advances in technology provides an ever increasing number of learning tools for children. Computers and television have long been a focus of interest to child development researchers, early childhood teachers and parents. The internet affords many opportunities for gaining information and working on skills but also presents many dangers if not closely monitored by adults. Teachers have developed many wonderful projects and learning techniques using photography, iPods, whiteboards, email and many other technological tools. ELLs have achieved growth in written and spoken language through technology. On the negative side the equipment and the internet connections are very expensive. Equipment is expensive and deciding whether to buy tablets, computers or iphones is a serious consideration. The value of virtual learning is still under consideration. Further, technology should be selected because it supports educational goals, not just because it is fun.
