Answer to Question 1

ANSWER: Articulation is the clarity of the spoken word that is developing through the first eight years.
Vocabulary is the acquisition of many words and names for things in the environment.
Functions of language are the various uses such as demands/requests, expression of feelings, seeking/conveying information.
Grammar is the culturally acceptable pattern of word usage.

Answer to Question 2

ANSWER: Both home and school should make every effort to patiently listen to what the child is trying to say without commenting or saying, Slow down. This is a common
developmental pattern in preschoolers, but if it does not pass in a matter of weeks, then an evaluation by a speech pathologist may be warranted.
