ANSWER: Answers will vary but should include elements of the following: States with stringent regulations for child care have better quality environments and instruction. In any classroom individual attention for every child is critical. Teachers should have warm, stimulating interactions with their students. Positive teacher/child relationships enhance cognitive, social, emotional and language development. Play should be included in the curriculum. Preschool and kindergarten teachers are more likely than upper grade teachers to meet these requirements. The NAEYC principles should guide planning and instruction.
