Answer to Question 1

One might select materials for use in a reading program from the wide variety of childrens magazines. The material may be selected as the primary material or as related material to reinforce or extend a story. In addition, newspaper and magazine articles, stories, and pictures can be cut out to construct collages, category charts, and activity sequences. Each of these supports the development of oral language when it is used for discussion purposes as well.
