Answer to Question 1

Effective use of webs is a most powerful tool. Webs allow the teacher to step back and see the lesson in a different framework. In addition, the teacher can re-create stories to involve different content areas, use the interest of the children to continue the exploration of a concept in a different content area, and take advantage of the unexpected possibilities that emerge in a classroom throughout the day. Webs can be saved, added to, or modified for use in the future. Project Approach is a useful tool as well. It can involve children with widely varying abilities in a cooperative learning activity. It is based on respect for the child, the use of relationship to support thinking, art as a product of thinking and communicating, a comfortable learning pace, and a variety of roles for adults.
