Answer to Question 1

This can be refuted. Children begin to write stories as soon as they begin to talk and to draw. The actual handwriting of the story is really only the recording of the tale. The creating, or real writing, of the story can be done orally and/or with pictures by young children. Authors who write books for children often dispel the myths of writing. They typically began to construct stories at very young ages and wrote about their lives and the experiences that were meaningful to them.

Answer to Question 2

These things can bring a feeling of importance to the activity. They can make it feel more like a real play. The acquisition of costumes and props also helps to get children, parents, and community involved in the activity.
