Why is it important to consider plot, character, setting, and theme when selecting books?

Answer to Question 1

These are the key elements of good literature. When they are missing or are not well developed, the entire book suffers. For example, when one cant relate to any of the characters in the story, an emotional bond with the story is lacking. If there is no problem or plot, the story easily becomes boring and aimless.
