Answer to Question 1

While the process of identifying quality in literature can be somewhat subjective, there are certain things that most people find to be powerful components of a good book. These include well-developed characters, setting, plot, and theme. In addition, the text style, narrative style, illustrations, and photographs found in childrens books can contribute much to a book. Understanding how each of these adds to the quality of the literature can help one select books that are much more likely to be enjoyed by children.
