Answer to Question 1

If teachers have training they have the knowledge to understand health risk. They would offer preventative measures to avoid risk for both staff and children. Some preventive measures would include knowing the importance of keeping health records up to date for both children and staff, and providing an environment that is conducive to mental health. Another would be to help educate parents about how to create and maintain a healthy environment for kids at home.

Answer to Question 2

Schools should do what they can to promote the health of staff. This might include employee wellness programs. In about two-thirds of the states, districts or schools are provided with assistance in the development of staff health promotion activities or services.
