ANSWER: Remembering when they were in trouble will help them come to terms with their personal experiences that might shape their beliefs and behavior. They might now know not to treat children the way they were treated but also to look at not repeating the punishment they received. Without reflecting to brings hidden theories to light, new information is often openly discarded because it does not fit with an existing world view.
