It is the child's feelings and general attitudinal mental set concerning the act of reading and whether desire and appreciation exist. Feelings would include realizing and believing reading is worthwhile, enjoyable, fun, useful, helpful, and important. Its development depends on life experience and exposure to reading in early childhood.
