Answer to Question 1

The shared experience will combine the ideas and actions of each child into a unified whole. The shared experience forms the basis for planning and carrying out murals, creative dances, original songs and music, dramatic play centers, and group sculptures. For example, after a trip to the zoo, children share what they saw, and the teacher makes a class chart of their observations. That chart then becomes the source of ideas for what children will put in their re-creation of a zoo in their classroom.
The shared experience can be any of the following:
 a field trip
an event that occurs, such as rain, snow, or a parade
observation of something real, such as nature objects, animals, machines, or a store
reading a story or poem together
 a class project topic
