Answer to Question 1

FALSE

Answer to Question 2

Children past the age of three are capable of mentally connecting and anticipating the cause-and-effect relationship between their actions and potential consequences. Adults should help children think about and talk about potential consequences of actions. Adults should avoid bribing, intimidating, or giving idle threats to children. Adults should never manipulate, coerce, or trick the child into behaving a certain way. Adults should give children reasonable choices, talk with children about potential consequences, and allow them to deal independently with consequences that are not harmful or unreasonable. For example, a child should be told the reasons for placing his plastic cup of milk away from the edge of the table where it can easily be knocked off. If the child over three fails to do so and the milk spills, he should be given paper towels or a sponge and guided to clean up the spill himself.

Every flu season is different, and even healthy people can get extremely sick from the flu, as well as spread it to others. The flu season can begin as early as October and last as late as May. Every person over six months of age should get an annual flu vaccine. The vaccine cannot cause you to get influenza, but in some seasons, may not be completely able to prevent you from acquiring influenza due to changes in causative viruses. The viruses in the flu shot are killed—there is no way they can give you the flu. Minor side effects include soreness, redness, or swelling where the shot was given. It is possible to develop a slight fever, and body aches, but these are simply signs that the body is responding to the vaccine and making itself ready to fight off the influenza virus should you come in contact with it.

People who have myopia, or nearsightedness, are not able to see objects at a distance but only up close. It occurs when the cornea is either curved too steeply, the eye is too long, or both. This condition is progressive and worsens with time. More than 100 million people in the United States are nearsighted, but only 20% of those are born with the condition. Diet, eye exercise, drug therapy, and corrective lenses can all help manage nearsightedness.
