Answer to Question 1

The surer a child is that he or she is an accepted member of a group, the more cooperative and confident the child will be. Polite, attentive listening not only gives children the confident feeling that what they have to say is important enough for us to listen, but also teaches children by modeling how they should listen to others. Also, attentive listening will help us understand a child's needs. We can show our recognition and acceptance of a child by listening carefully.
