Answer to Question 1

ANSWER: Genre is a category used to classify literary works, usually by form, technique, or content.
The format of a book is the overall arrangement, or the way the book is put together, involving factors such as size, shape, paper quality, colors, and content of each page.

Answer to Question 2

ANSWER: Children develop visual literacy skills before they can read. As teachers we can encourage them to use illustrations to decode meaning from stories and enable them to begin to understand such elements as story sequences, settings, characters, and plot.
