ANSWER: They encourage self-esteem, creativity, and sharing ideas with others; reinforce group learning develop a childs understanding of authorship by seeing her name in print encourage children to articulate experiences; invite children to use their imagination and include parents in the process of reading and writing with their children.

ANSWER: Find opportunities to suggest titles and authors of books, give parents addresses of local libraries, suggest local bookstores that offer a large selection of childrens literature, send home a list of the books that are going to be or have been read to the children, encourage parents to read to their children often, ask parents to be role models by talking about what they read and what their children read.
