ANSWER: Read to children every day, several times a day; have a regular story time; use the words front cover, back cover, title, author, illustrator, top, bottom, left, right because this exposes their children to reading vocabulary; read all sorts of labels, signs, menus, calendars, etc. to their children; model reading to their children; talk to their children while doing activities; listen to their children; sing with their children; provide many opportunities to play with language; tell family stories; encourage their children to draw to help clarify thoughts and ideas and to reinforce the motor skills their children need for writing; write to their children; and model writing
