Adventure and survival stories (marked by especially exciting, fast-paced plots), animal stories (realistic relationships between human beings and animals, most commonly horses or dogs, or about realistic animal adventures), mysteries and thrillers (use suspense, tension, and excitement as primary elements of the narrative, and usually the villain is known to both the hero of the tale and the reader), sports stories (the action revolves around a sport and the thrills and tensions that accompany that particular sport, but it is the characters and how they use sports in their lives that carry the narrative).
