smiling, pausing, and saying nothing at first

focusing on the abstract design qualities of a piece of artwork (Look at those blue lines, or You used every color on the easel.)

using reflective dialogue (You look proud of what you built.)

concentrating on the process of problem-solving rather than rushing toward a solution
