Answer to Question 1

B

Answer to Question 2

During the Renaissance, music underwent a similar change as the visual arts, referencing ancient Classical culture. Unlike the visual arts, however, music in the Renaissance remained immensely important in religious services and functions. In addition, with the development of the printing press, more secular musicsongs, dances, and even operaswere printed and popularized. Lute music became very popular as wealthy people began hosting concerts inside their homes. During the sixteenth century, the madrigal rose to prominence, becoming the favored type of secular composition. Madrigals were often romantic, based on a sonnet by Petrarch or other poet. Like the visual arts, High Renaissance music illustrated the ideals of symmetry and clarity, even while the compositions themselves were often extremely complex.
