Progress monitoring is an essential component of all tiers of RTI. The progress of all students who are receiving interventions targeted to their instructional needs is monitored frequently. Student data is examined to evaluated instruction. Progress monitoring is essential to effective implementation of RTI because it allows key stakeholders to determine the rate of growth students are making and to determine whether additional intervention is needed.
