Answer to Question 1

C

Answer to Question 2

In males, the gonads (testes) secrete androgens and produce hundreds of millions of gametes (sperm) each day. The sperm are mixed with secretions, forming semen, and are expelled from the body during ejaculation into the female. In females, the gonads (ovaries) secrete estrogen and progesterone and release a single ovum (gamete) every month. The vagina receives the penis during sexual intercourse and the ejaculate is deposited near the external os of the uterus. If the ovum is fertilized and implants in the endometrium, the female's body nourishes the development of the embryo and fetus until birth.
