Answer to Question 1

The two people bring expectations to the relationship. If one spouse holds traditional gender roles and the other more flexible gender roles, disappointment and frustration can emerge. Spouses should clarify their gender role beliefs at the start of the relationship.

Answer to Question 2

Pooling money is simpler because there are fewer accounts to balance, there is accountability for both partners, and it gives the sense of greater commitment to the relationship. By keeping funds separate, each partner can maintain their independence and they only have to account for themselves.
