There are major differences in the metabolism of morphine and the illegal drug heroin. Morphine mostly produces its CNS effects through m-receptors, and at k- and d-receptors. Heroin has a slight affinity for opiate receptors. Most of its actions are due to metabolism to active metabolites (6-acetylmorphine, morphine, and morphine-6-glucuronide).
Sildenafil (Viagra®) has two actions that may be of consequence in patients with heart disease. It can lower the blood pressure, and it can interact with nitrates. It should never be used in patients who are taking nitrates.
The familiar sounds of your heart are made by the heart's valves as they open and close.
When blood is exposed to air, it clots. Heparin allows the blood to come in direct contact with air without clotting.
Human stomach acid is strong enough to dissolve small pieces of metal such as razor blades or staples.
