Answer to Question 1

Answer to Question 2

Buspirone lacks the sedative properties of benzodiazepines, is not cross-tolerant with other sedative-hypnotics and alcohol, works on 5HT receptors, takes several days of chronic exposure to exert its anxiolytic effects, and produces no withdrawal upon drug cessation. Benzodiazepines have sedative properties, are cross-tolerant with other sedative-hypnotics and alcohol, works on GABA receptors, exert anxiolytic effects almost immediately, and may induce withdrawal effects upon drug cessation following chronic exposure.
