The patient is a 32-year-old male admitted for elective surgery. He is an athlete who lifts weights and spends many hours outdoors. He is seen today with complaints of a 2cm lesion on the vermilion border of the lower lip. Microscopic examination of the lesion revealed squamous cell carcinoma. The lip lesion was excised. In addition, a right recurrent inguinal hernia was repaired. After an overnight stay, the patient was sent home with instructions for wound care and follow-up.
