The patient is a 48-year-old obese female who was admitted to Long Pike Community Hospital with ulcerated internal hemorrhoids. The plan was hemorrhoidectomy on the morning after admission. On the evening of admission, prior to surgery, she developed bradycardia. She was seen in cardiology consultation. The bradycardia resolved but the hemorrhoidectomy was canceled until she has further workup with the Dr. Davis, cardiologist. The patient is discharged with plans to follow up with the cardiologist in two days. She will schedule an appointment with my clinic and we will reschedule hemorrhoid surgery once she is cleared from a cardiology standpoint.
