The patient came to the surgery center for removal of a pigmented nevus of the arm. He was prepped and draped and local anesthesia was injected under the lesion. A 1.5 cm lesion with 0.5 cm margins was excised, taking full-thickness skin. Cautery was used for bleeding.

Mrs. Bartlett noted a skin lesion while she was on vacation in the Bahamas. She had it examined there and was told it was seborrhea. Upon returning home she saw Dr. White, a dermatologist. Dr. White felt the lesion warranted a biopsy, and Mrs. Bartlett was scheduled for outpatient surgery. Dr. White performed a wide resection of a 3.0 cm malignant skin lesion of the left leg. The defect required an adjacent tissue transfer measuring 15 sq cm.
