Drug dependence includes this feature; in addition, in the absence of the drug, the drug dependent person experiences unpleasant and uncontrollable mood states that is accompanied with the compulsive use of drugs. Typically tolerance is evidenced and physiological withdrawal may be evidenced if the drug is not taken.
