You are a kindergarten teacher in a suburban school that is in a community that is primarily middle income and Caucasian. You have implemented a multicultural curriculum in your kindergarten classroom. Several parents complain that such an approach is not necessary because the school system has so little cultural diversity. Using ideas from Chapter 1, write a letter to all the parents, justifying a multicultural curriculum for this kindergarten. Within this letter, include examples of how you plan to integrate a multicultural perspective into the classroom. Include examples of books, lessons and units, parent involvement, and other teaching strategies that represent multicultural perspectives.
