A premature infant is defined as:
◦ an infant born 5 or more weeks before the end of the full 38-week gestation period.
◦ an infant born after the full gestation period but weighing less than 5 pounds and exhibiting one or several developmental risk factors.
◦ an infant weighing less than 5 pounds at birth and showing poor reflexive reactions to stimuli.
◦ an infant born at least 3 weeks before the end of the gestation period or weighing less than 5 1/2 pounds at birth.
