Which of the following most accurately describes John Bowlby's view of the attachment process?
◦ Young infants become attached to significant caregivers who are present at birth; these bonds become stronger in the first six months of life. By one year attachments have broadened to include extended family members and friends.
◦ Young infants smile and attend to all people; by four or five months they direct these behaviors mainly to significant caregivers. By six months, they have intense desires to be with these caregivers.
◦ Infants recognize and attend to human faces by four months; by six months they smile and coo more often when they see significant caregivers. By one year they have intense desires to be in the presence of these caregivers.
