It is responsible for promoting England as a tourist destination and for promoting the United Kingdom internationally. VisitScotland and the Wales Tourist Board are expected to work in partnership with VisitBritain when undertaking overseas activities, but they are free to act independently in terms of domestic marketing.

Deriving a moving average (also known as rolling average) involves a statistical technique in which volatility in a time series can be smoothed out, thus making sense of the underlying direction of the variable. Volatile time-series are often seasonal in nature including construction activity, food production, etc. The moving average smoothing technique is described in Table 20.3.
