At-risk cars are purchased by car rental firms without any guarantee that the manufacturer will buy them back after a certain mileage threshold has been reached. These cars are generally disposed of at auction. Program cars are those subject to a guaranteed buy-back by the manufacturer.

Functional dimension:
Consists of the way in which structural components are applied. It centers on board evaluation. How well is it functioning? How effective is it in light of changing conditions?
