Except for the UK, computer literacy and penetration has been less in Europe than in the United States. Further, Europeans appear to desire more personalized service when it comes to travel than Americans.

Gambling was banned on moral and religious grounds out of fear that it would undermine the moral fabric of the country. There was also anxiety about the addictive aspect that might harm family structure and increase crime.
