Income is the most important determinant for travel and tourism because even if the desire to travel is present, people will not be able to do so if they do not have enough money.

Answer 2

This happens because the United States is a relatively distant destination for big-spending Europeans and Japanese who consequently will stay much longer than just a weekend as with destinations closer to home, and hence this means that they will spend more money.
