Students should note instances of lower-class mobilization in the attacks on property in the Stamp Act resistance and in enforcing the various boycotts. People were mobilized by groups like the Sons of Liberty and the Daughters of Liberty. The most effective means of mobilization was in Tom Paine's Common Sense, which mobilized people by appealing to them in a direct form of language and by attacking the king directly.
