Students may discuss the Sons of Liberty as an example of how non-elites played active roles. (Better students may note, however, that Samuel Adams was clearly a member of the elite but also the leader of the Sons of Liberty.) Students should also recognize the significant role of the Daughters of Liberty and women in general.
