Amnestic disorder refers to the inability to transfer information from short-term memory to long-term memory. It can be due to drug use, strokes, or head injury. Wernicke-Korsakof's syndrome is a particular amnestic disorder associated with a lack of thiamine due to alcoholism and malnutrition.
