1. Economic prosperity allowed many people in the United States to enjoy material and other gains, and to focus on those rather than on social change.
2. This brought added worries that some things  communism among them  might challenge this new prosperity.
3. However, this economic prosperity was not shared by all. The gap between the rich and the poor, and between whites and minorities, continued to widen.
4. Economic prosperity brought an emphasis on the family and the church.
5. It also facilitated the rise of the suburbs and led to a reliance on the highways.
6. Finally, economic prosperity brought a reliance on credit and the two-income family.
