- Personality disorders are organized into three clusters:
- odd/eccentric cluster includes schizotypal, schizoid, and paranoid personality disorders
- dramatic cluster includes borderline, antisocial, narcissistic and histrionic personality disorders
- anxious/fearful cluster includes avoidant, obsessive-compulsive, and dependent personality disorders

- The dimensional model in the DSM includes four key elements of personality functioning that could be impaired
- identity
- self-direction
- intimacy
- empathy
