 Core characteristics  compromised functioning in two areas (inattention and hyperactivity/impulsivity); child could have deficits in one or both of these areas
 For a first-grade student, must take into consideration the tasks that are developmentally appropriate and expected. These could include academic tasks (starting to read, write, simple math, etc.), social tasks (learning to get along with others), learning to control emotions and behaviors (stopping behavior when not appropriate, calming down), controlling body (sitting in seat, standing in line, keeping hands to self), etc.
