What does this illustrate about the nature of earthquake destruction?
◦ Different building codes matter greatly. Buildings that can take earthquake stresses often survive without damage while others build differently face total destruction.
◦ Earthquake destruction is not widespread. It often destroys only a building or two.
◦ Earthquake destruction is very sporadic. Like tornadoes, it may hit one street block hard and completely miss another.
◦ Earthquake destruction takes a long time to occur. In a year's time, the seemingly intact building may look the same as the destroyed building.
