An Ontario study (Du Mont et al., 2009 ) found that the conviction of rapists increases when rape victims undergo the medical forensic examination (MFE).
 
  Although the MFE is an intrusive procedure, how do assaulted women explain their agreement to undergo the stressful test?
 
  a) They are pressured by hospital staff to undergo the examination
  b) The MFE helped them feel that other people were recognizing that they had been assaulted.
