There are substantial similarities worldwide in how cultures socialize young children and structure their social environments. What are the similarities?
◦ Fathers take over the role of socialization and mothers have no role at all.
◦ There is a rapid and complete reduction in the roles that mothers play in their child's social development.
◦ There is an increase in the roles that mothers play in the socialization of the child.
◦ There is a gradual lessening of dependence on the mother and a move toward peers and older children.
