Answer to Question 1

A

Answer to Question 2

Freud suggests that behavior results from interaction of three subsystems in personality: id, ego, and superego.
Inner (intrapsychic) conflicts arise when these three make incompatible demands on the individual. Freud
suggests three types of anxiety: reality, neurotic, and moral anxiety. Reality anxiety arises from external threats,
neurotic anxiety from the threat of the id's unconscious impulses breaking through ego controls, and moral
anxiety from action in conflict with the superego. The ego handles anxiety either rationally or with ego-defense
mechanisms.
GRADING RUBRIC: 10 points total - 2 points each for explanation of id, ego, and superego. 4 points for
explanation of how these interact to produce anxiety.
