Answer to Question 1

D

Answer to Question 2

The goal of psychodynamic therapy is to reveal the unconscious by using numerous techniques designed to reveal that which one may or may not be aware of. Classical psychoanalysis is an intensive and long-term process that is rarely practiced today. Psychoanalytically oriented psychotherapies are more common today. These employ many of the same approaches as classical psychoanalysis, but focus more on interpersonal considerations. While the classical psychoanalyst would focus on early relationships, the more modern psychotherapist would look at how those early relationships impact today's interactions. Some psychodynamic techniques are free association, analysis of dreams, analysis of resistance, and analysis of transference. In free association, the client is asked to say whatever comes to mind - to speak without thinking. When dreams are analyzed, the therapist looks past the dream as remember and interprets the hidden meaning of the dream. All of these techniques are designed to aid the client in developing an awareness of that which lurks in his or her unconscious.
