Determine where the given function is increasing and where it is decreasing. 

f(x) = x4 - 2x2 - 9
◦ Increasing on (-∞, -1) and (1, ∞), decreasing on (-1, 1)
◦ Increasing on (-∞, -1) and (0, 1), decreasing on (-1, 0) and (1, ∞)
◦ Decreasing on (-∞, -1) and (0, 1), increasing on (-1, 0) and (1, ∞)
◦ Decreasing on (-∞, -1) and (1, ∞), increasing on (-1, 1)
